X-ray plant photography

SATURDAY, JULY 13

Come join us for a spectacular photo and film exhibition at Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam, on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 12:00

The Amsterdam artists collective ‘Tropisme’ will exhibit some of their most intriguing art works. Plant life is caught with unusual, often scientific, photo techniques such as infrared, x-ray or microscope-lenses. The result is a unique collection of fascinating, almost alienating images. The exhibitions can be visited in our Palm greenhouse, which once served as laboratory for professor Hugo de Vries, who with help from a microscope discovered the existence of genes and “pangens”, describing the latter as “the smallest particles representing one hereditary characteristic”.
